Accidental Hitchhiker

She stepped in front as I exited Goodeetz Grocery. I stopped the cart.
 
“Uhmm….excuse me?” I smiled.
 
Her worn, aged face beamed like she’d won the lottery.
 
“Finally!” she cheered. “Canna hitch a ride?”
 
I shrugged as we approached my car.
 
“Depends. Where to?”
 
“Probly dat Morrigan Funeral place – it’s my Bobby’s brudder’s.”
 
I frowned but conceded.
 
“Sure.”
 
I opened the car door for her.
 
“Glad ya seen me. Gotta tellum bye, ya know?”
 
I nodded politely.
 
Parking at Morrigan’s, I noticed her picture on today’s announcement.
 

Goodeetz Parking Lot Tragedy
 
Shocked, I turned to speak, but I was alone.
