I'm Only Seventeen

by LisaMay

I am powerless in his arms. He’s holding me against my will, touching my face. His hands are all over me. There is a strange look in his eyes. I don’t trust Greg this time; something is different. He looks desperate and I’m scared.

I’m only seventeen. I don’t want it to end this way. He’s gripping me… my strength is ebbing….

The vet removes the needle. Greg is sobbing.

70 Word Flash Fiction writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a flash fiction story. 70 words exactly. Title not included in count.

Author's Note:
For anyone who has had to have a beloved family pet put down, such as my darling Tillypuss recently, we share a common grief. No cat of mine has ever made it past 17 years old. In this grim little story, which alludes to violence against women, the poor cat has a premonition of death. In a situation of euthanasia the animal is usually so unwell it will just slip away from its pain without too much knowledge. I hope.
