Grandma and Me

by Boogienights

I love grandma's kitchen,
the smell of baking bread,
the songs we sing together,
that stick inside my head.

"Grandma, would you bake me cookies?"
"The oatmeal's are the best!"
"With ice cold milk in metal cups
as we take a little rest."
"Grandma, would you tell me stories?"
"About places far away."
"Then later on, I'll go and get
a board game we can play."
"Grandma let's draw together."
"The sun, the moon and sky."
"We'll tape them up so everyone,
can see when they pass by."
"Grandma you smell so pretty."
"Like the lilacs in the yard."
"And the soap you buy for scrubbing,
that you use when you work hard."
"Grandma, please hold me close to you
and tuck me in tonight."
"I know that you'll watch over me,
everything will be alright."
"You make me happy grandma
with all the things you do."
"I know you love me best of all,
the same way I love you!"
