The Heart or The Drain

The author has placed a warning on this post for violence.
In the spirit of love,
One April night under the stars,
A child came to be
A heart
That beat a lovely sound.

It knew nothing of the world,
But felt danger all around.

Evil was laughing in its ear,
Speaking blasphemous lies
That it would be a
Mass of mire
Going down the drain.

An image not nice to see.

Everywhere people gathered
There was crying
And yelling
Words were spoken it did not understand.

It tried to say,
"I love you,"
But it could not be heard.

It grew, but so did the noises,
"You're violating our rights and dignity
To do what we want with our bodies!"

Until, one day...
It came into the world
All dressed up in red
Like those foolish Hand Maidens.

Only, it was blood
And it cried. And it died.
Love did not win the fight.

The month of April is when Jesus rode the final mile. When he was a child they searched to kill him and killed many children out of fear. Now children are killed because of (rights?) What does a heartbeat in a fetus mean? I believe it is a live human being, but without the ability to say, "How about my right to live?"
