A Glance And a Smile

by Yvon

Reflections mirrored, recognized
The person seen grew old and wise
Silent image in the age of night
Expressing there a kindly sight

A flash is echoed upon this face
An ancient soul of the human race
With gentle eyes that have shed tears
Not saddened by the bygone years

These eyes do glimmer, gaze care free
The depths of soul, is what's perceived
Love shines forth with heart's desire
Reveals a soul, tempered by fire

What this face expresses is a living smile
As time ticks on, it will tick for a while
With a wink and nod the image goes
This life continues, for it still unfolds

Mirror contest writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem concerning you, or someone, and a mirror. Make it humerous or serious; make it structured or free verse, but keep it brief. Use the mirror as a metaphor in anyway you desire.

I have so few pictures of myself so I used one that's about 15 years old. Age is a journey. Mirrors show the outward being with a glimpse of what lays beneath.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
