A Mystifying Dream

I dreamed I awoke
early in the morning
gazed up in our maple tree
spotted a short, stout animal
who ran along a branch
scurried down the trunk
stopped on the grass
raised himself up and then
turned toward me.
To my great horror
when he lifted his head
he had my face.
