A Rondeau entry

Golden Nostalgia

by June Sargent

through the veil of time life was sweet
memory lane is the best street
penny candy and bubble gum
those Devil Dogs were just awesome
often I'll buy one as a treat

wish good ol' days I could repeat
youthful dreams one could not defeat
strangers we would always welcome
through the veil of time

golden years now feel incomplete
friends seldom call to meet or eat
nights are when I feel most lonesome
days are boring and just humdrum
best escape 'fore I'm obsolete
through the veil of time
