Chasing The Rainbow

by Boogienights

A Rainbow Contest Winner
I followed my dreams to the rainbow's end,
expecting a pot of gold.
A wasted youth is all I got,
I searched 'till I grew old.

Though the vibrant colors faded,
my dreams all stayed intact,
I never one time questioned it.
I never once turned back.

While rainbows are enticing,
bright colors to admire.
Whoever said that gold awaits,
is something of a liar.

It's best to look at rainbows,
with a most discerning eye,
and not be fooled that all your dreams,
at the rainbows end will lie.

Rainbows may be pretty,
but they're just made of light and air.

The only gold that they might give,
are golden memories to share.
