A chapter in the book Poetry NOOK

Splash

by Bucketlist

The couple stood, drinks in hand
Arguing in the cool evening air
Then their lovers' spat progressed

She reached up to smack him
He forcefully grabbed her wrist
Her glass fell, spilling its liquid

A thousand chards of broken glass
Glistened in the setting sunlight
Jagged edges shrugged off droplets
Resembling a roosting flock of birds

The glass, just like their love
Once bright and warm in hand
Had now lost all of it's spirit
