Our Dance
the air seemed to whoosh
beneath me
I surely was not as flexible
as I may have been once
but he was a dipper
the second he paraded me
through the palace door
and onto the spacious ballroom floor
the past became present
the young lass with lilac blooms
in her hair
that he'd made love to
among the fir trees
in the enchanted forest
returned to her beau
right there for the world to see
and we didn't give a damn
what anyone thought
as we danced our dance
