A Christmas Rose
The ground lay covered in new fallen snow;
while the temperature outside dipped to near zero.
Icicles could be found hanging everywhere,
as the family gathered together in prayer.
December twenty-fifth was the date;
the hour, it was becoming most late.
Each, in turn, their petition pled,
hoping for some sign once the final "amen" was said.
Then there-in the last glow of the setting sun,
upon the branch of a bush they sighted a single one;
blooming when everything else was froze:
a beautiful, bright red, Christmas rose.
