Being Thankful

Acrostic Poetry Contest Winner 
Better times are coming, my mama used to say.
Everytime she said it my blues would fade away.
Interestingly enough, I think my mom was right.
Never in my whole life, has my spirit felt so light.
Giving help to others is what I've gotten right.

Thanksgiving is upon us, and soon we'll celebrate.
Having friends and family near always feels so great.
As long as we remember, that others are in need.
Never once forgetting, there are hungry mouths to feed.
Kindness costs us nothing, but it's priceless in its worth.
Find the time to share your love with others on this Earth.
Usually help is needed (not just holidays) all year through.
Let your heart reach out and guide your hands, do all that you can do.
