"You just missed her," Grandpa said. "My love looked wonderful."
"Grandma?"
"Yes."
I'd just joined him on the hospice's patio that Indian Summer afternoon.
"We sat on that bench awhile." He pointed. "Forgot her scarf and umbrella, but she'll be back tomorrow . . . for me."
I glanced at the empty bench.
