Snakes need friends too

Jake the Snake

by HarryT

In the morning when I awake
I go out to our garden to see Jake the snake
He likes winds himself about a tomato stake
Suns himself sometimes lying flat as a rake
When I first saw him my knees began to quake
My whole entire body began to shudder and shake

But, dad said not to worry, Jake is a friendly snake
And there were more like him down by the lake
I went down there and more friends I did make
I like to feed them pieces of insect cake
They too need to eat for goodness sake
