Dreamers Lament

by Boogienights

All my life I've strived for riches,
money, silver, gold.
I wanted to have plenty of wealth
and also fame untold.
Now I sit here with no cash
and fame's eluded me.
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!

I thought that working in a zoo,
might be the way to go.
How hard can feeding animals be?
Piece of cake to run this show.
Until the lion's cage lock broke,
to our terror he was free!
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!

I thought maybe a greenhouse,
is where I'd like to be.
Working with plants and flowers,
seemed the perfect job for me.
How was I supposed to know,
plants needed water regularly?
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!

I ended up at the landfill,
my job was sorting trash.
It didn't pay much money
and it gave me quite a rash!
I mixed paper up with plastic,
that was the end of me.
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!

Now don't feel sorry for me,
I'm happy here at home.
Living in moms basement,
'till I can get a loan.
But wait! Now mom is kicking me out!
No more free ride for me.
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!

Sleeping on my best friends couch,
is what I now call home.
I smoked his weed, ate his ice cream,
for that I must atone.
The winds of change must blow my way
and bring happiness to me.
A change of dreams is called for.
What's next?
We'll have to see!
