My name is Lust-
I am sure we have met;
I make your pulse faster
And your palms drip with sweat.

I make foolhardy girls
Tryst with naughty boys.
I'm the creak of the springs
And the moan in the noise.

My daughter, Attraction
Helps along the way.
She makes my powers stronger
When I come out to play.

Temptation, my sister
Makes me hard to oppose.
She incites stolen kisses
With a twitch of her nose!

Love, my twin brother-
So much fairer than I.
His purity overwhelms-
He's hard to defy.

But people get confused
And want to see me in his place
For you see, we're very different-
Though we wear the same face.

So, when I leave
The spurned lovers cry.
They thought it was Love
But really, t'was I.

And tears fall down
Love's dampened cheek
I smile, smugly sated-
His power is weak.

For every smile Love bestows
I bring a guilt that grows and grows.
I will burn you on sanctities pyre-
I make Love a liar.

I wring him raw
Leave the heart sore-
For Lust is red
In tooth and claw.

So, you may think I'm Love
But my name is Lust-
And between me and you
I'm the one you shouldn't trust.

I'm the fire in your loins
I'm the flame to your fire-
You will burn with loss from me-
Feed my pangs of cruel desire.

And you will see my smirk
As you drown in pity's tears-
I exist to bring Love strife;
So that it smarts and sears.

For the plant of Lust
Bears poisoned fruit-
With pain in the leaf
And misery in the root.

Betrayal in the branches-
Black as fresh soot-
And every new deception
Is my lascivious loot.
