Failed to scare

Writers Block

by Boogienights

"It was a dark and stormy night..."
Was how I started my story today,
a ghostly tale to cause a fright,
It didn't turn out that way.

The haunted house that I described,
one I hoped would cause readers to shiver,
was way too cute I realized.
Wouldn't make them quake or quiver.

The yard in front was way too neat,
no sinister trees to twist and bend.
The ghosts took time to rake the leaves,
the picket fence they too did mend.

All my spirits were too benign,
instead of being horror filled,
they were alas too sweet and kind.
Would cause no readers to be thrilled.

Where once I pictured walking dead,
to be the next door neighbors,
who'd invite themselves to dinner,
tender brains is what they'd savor.

Instead I wrote of people,
who were honestly too normal.
Such boring protagonists were they,
for my story paranormal.

Try as I might to write them bad,
my pen wouldn't let me do it.
I failed to write my scary tale,
It was over and I knew it.

I guess I'm not the ghoulish type,
can't write of blood a dripping.
I wanted readers to scream with fright,
my skill set must be slipping.

Though for now I've given up,
I'll leave it all up to Dean.
The King of Fanstory horror,
you all know who I mean.

I'll finish up with this,
I'll try again someday,
to write such frightful scary tales,
fear will make you look away!
