I dreamt I was a mermaid once
A dream it had to be
I cannot live beneath the waves
But oh, it called to me!

I jumped into my water world
And sucked salt like the air.
My lungs were burning, sure enough
Still, not that I could care.

I dove into the depths of which
I've never been again
And found a city made of glass,
But...water dreams must end.

It's better to have swam then stood
quite safely on the shore.
At least I was a mermaid once...
I couldn't ask for more.
