Sixty-five Years, And Still Counting

by Ogden

“Hi, I’m Jill.”
“I’m Billy. I’m five.”
“Be my friend?”

3-5-3 writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a 3-5-3 poem on any subject. The only rule is to follow the 3-5-3 syllable count (first line has three syllables, second line has five, third line has three again).

Jill was many years ahead of her time. If she had waited for Billy to make the first move, they never would have met. And 76 progeny (2 daughters, 1 son, 10 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and, at last count, 18 great-great grandchildren) never would have been born.

Everybody still teases Grandpa Billy for being so shy.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
