Where the Pandas Play

by June Sargent

take me to the land where giant pandas play
in verdant bamboo fields bathed in sun’s golden ray
where crimson lotus blossoms float in splendid array
amidst the silver koi fish frolicking in May
where lazing dragonflies form a rainbow-like display
and courting red-crowned cranes swoop and splash all day
please take me home and I promise I'll not stray

that is where my heart is - and that is where I'll stay

This is how my mom described the land she came from - China. She dreamed of it often, but never did go back for a visit.
