A Long Day Trip
by frogbook
The poor man's day was ill-fated from the start. The fight that caused him to take a drive through the 'peaceful' desert had been strike one. The next turn for the worst had been his car stopping dead in its tracks with a fizzle of smoke.
What finished the trip was the snake.
"I guess if someone stepped on me, I would bite 'em too," Bill said, as the snake slithered away leaving its trail in the sand.
With no cell service, Bill could only sit in the sparse shade of the cactus, licking his lips for moisture, and wait for death
