Face The Wind

by LanceHill

I'm traveling down this old lonesome highway,
Counting the days 'til I get home to you.
Sometimes this road gets oh so long and lonely,
I just don't know what I'm supposed to do.
I stop and call the house but no one answers,
You must be out with the kids again.
I'll try two or three other numbers,
Then I'll get back on the road and face the wind.

Chorus
I've been waiting, for too long.
This road just seems to, carry on.
I know I've left you, all alone.
But not much longer, I'm coming home.

2.
Each mile means that I am closer to you.
I'll travel each night without sleep again.
I should be home in three or four more days now.
And each night in our bed is where I'll spend.
I'm passing through another town in darkness.
I pass through this town every now and then.
I'll stop one more time for a cup of coffee.
Then I'll get back on the road and face the wind.

Chorus
I've been waiting, for too long.
This road just seems to, carry on.
I know I've left you, all alone.
But not much longer, I'm coming home.

3.
The road sign says just two hundred miles now.
Today is the day I'll get back home with you.
Right now my eyes are oh so tired and weary.
But I'll keep these eighteen wheels traveling through.
I start to think of all the miles behind me.
You know with this job we just can't win.
When I get back home we'll spend the nights together.
Then I'll get back on the road and face the wind.

Chorus
I've been waiting, for too long.
This road just seems to, carry on.
I know I've left you, all alone.
But not much longer, I'm coming home.

But not much longer, I'm coming home.
