Shore Walk

by HarryT

I wander along the sandy shore
Where our footprints used to be
Watching an orange sun sink
Into the pewter sea

Winds which once
So lovingly curled about
You and me
Wrap now in chilling song

Darkness spills slowly over the coast
Seagulls swoop down scavenging scraps
Bubbling waves washed the sand where our
Footprints once trailed happily

Hey, get out!
Be gone...
You said
We could never be

Damn it! Stop haunting me
