A Bio Poem

Jane Austen (1775-1817)

by zanya

Now Jane she was an English lass,
born into an English vicarage.

An ear for dialogue and
an eye for detail, Jane's

tales portrayed , especially in
affairs of the heart, patriarchal

society's penchant for heroine's
submissive status and primogeniture.

After the ball was over and the
swooning and dancing were done,

realism reigned in Austen's milieu,
as love gave way to money.

Alas Ms Austen did not live to
see the truth of her observations,

echo down the centuries,
unto this present day.
