The David Beckham story.
Amazing Moments in Sports IV
by Thomas Bowling

David Beckham is surrounded by a group of children.
Child: Mr. Beckham, tell us about the time you won The Ryder Cup
Beckham: I remember it like it was yesterday. We were playing for the Ryder Cup when our goalie was injured. He twisted his ankle diving for a save. There was nothing else to do, so for the first time in my life I stepped and took his position. I was super excited. Not only was it my first time playing goalie, it was my first time using my hands in a soccer game.
It turns out I was a natural at the position. I became the first goalie to score in a game. I scored twenty-five goals that day. A record that still stands. They gave me two Ryder Cups that year. They said one wasn't enough to do justice to my achievement.
Child: Wow! Was that your greatest accomplishment?
Beckham: No. My greatest accomplishment was marrying a Spice Girl. My first choice was the chubby blonde. I've always had a thing for forty-year-old women that talked baby-talk, but she wouldn't have me. My second choice was Scary Spice but my parents were appalled by the thought of a mixed marriage. They said, “She's Methodist and we're Church of England.” I settled for Posh Spice and it turned out quite well.
