Story Poem Contest Winner

Now I have a short yet sweet story to tell
It involves a girl, a boy and an old wishing well
The boy had a crush on the fair neighbour's daughter
If her dad found out, he'd take the boy out for slaughter

She was so innocent, so beautiful, so pure
She's the kind who'd take no credit for inventing the cancer cure
She was everything this boy could ever ask for
Kind, loyal, emphathetic, funny: something out of folklore

As the boy was standing in front of the ancient well
He made a compelling wish which made his heart swell
This one wish kept twirling in his mind and soul
All he desired was the girl next door to make him whole

Suddenly he heard the softest voice speak aloud
Saying something that made the boy feel so very proud
"All I want is someone who makes such a wish about me,
I'll be beside you with this wish and stay wishing til eternity"

This ends the lovers' tiny but exceptional story,
Which blossoms every day like an early Morning glory
