My Daughter

by June Sargent

Looking at my daughter I see
the young lady I used to be
Like a mirror reflecting light
with a future ever so bright
Her facial features smooth as butter
not yet streaked by life's sad clutter
How I love this precious treasure
Life with her is just sheer pleasure
Now my baby girl's a bride
Tears and sighs I try to hide
knowing deep down she'll be fine
Just let go and see her shine
