Past, Present and Future?

Poets Prognosticating Contest Winner 
Horse and carriages were way too slow
Fuel powered cars are the way to go
Arctic circle with its mounds of snow
Now measuring at a record low
No sense in denying what we know

The plight of the polar bear portends
Our future - if man's greed does not end
