Border Control

by tfawcus

Thus I mused while pulling weeds
and planting seeds
in my exotic plot,
this Camelot.

Carefully tending those I love:
Kiss-me-quick and Damask rose,
Fuchsia and Valerian,
favoured plants, invited in.

Another wave of migrants came,
an uninvited yellow bane,
an acid flower,
unwelcome, sour,

that broke my pre-set rules
with adventitious propagules,
Invasive plant and uncontrolled.
My heart grew cold.
