My Brother and I

My brother and I, we never saw eye to eye.
We certainly share many genes, but by all means,
It cannot be denied we're different kinds of guys.
There's no indication he's any relation.

They never got us mixed up since I got my teeth fixed up,
And, not, I suppose, since blundering Mike broke his big nose.
I'm as thin as a twig and Mike eats like a hungry pig;
We're as different as the day is long. We're glad. It shows!

Before you get me wrong, let me add this in haste,
We do get along; it's a matter of taste.
I love the mountains, Michael adores the shore,
But we share vacations, we're pals to the core.

Vanilla, me, chocolate, he,
Big blondes he, petite brunettes me,
Don't compete for ladies we meet.
The ones I like are not for Mike.

For years there was a bigger complication,
Hampering careers, causing mom frustration.
Strangers would look odd at us as if they saw
A Brobdingnagian hippopotamus!

People were curious; it made our mom furious!
Mike and I were used to it; saw no abuse to it.
To friends we were like the rest, but with a special bond.
We led daily lives, with which few others could correspond.

Wherever we went, we were together,
Just as if we were tied with a tether.
When I was invited, Mike was, too.
Our avid attachment, everyone knew.

Before that, strangers told us apart 'cause Mike was always to my right.
It was that way for years until we overcame our lifelong fears,
And went our separate ways. That didn't last long. It felt very wrong!

The separation was right after the big operation.
I admit without chagrin, Mike is my Siamese twin.
