Writing Prompt Write a Minute Poem. The Minute Poem is rhyming verse form consisting of 12 lines of 60 syllables written in strict iambic meter. The poem is formatted into 3 stanzas of 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4; 8,4,4,4 syllables. The rhyme scheme is as follows: aabb, ccdd, eeff. Example: I Need Someone by Linda Newman I need someone to hold me tight (8 syllables | A Rhyme) Through dark of night, (4 syllables | A Rhyme) Who won't go 'way (4 syllables | B Rhyme) At break of day. (4 syllables | B Rhyme) Someone whose love will mend the seams (8 syllables | C Rhyme) Of broken dreams, (4 syllables | C Rhyme) And give me back (4 syllables | D Rhyme) The trust I lack. (4 syllables | D Rhyme) For love, it holds the magic key (8 syllables | E Rhyme) To set me free, (4 syllables | E Rhyme) To heal my soul (4 syllables | F Rhyme) And make me whole.
