I started out with nothing and I still have most of that.
I found that growing old was easy, so I did.
They tell me all is not lost but don't tell me where it's at,
I've been looking for it since I was a kid.

It's hard to make a comeback when you've not been anywhere
And if the buck stops here then why am I so broke?
Not hard to meet expenses, I find them everywhere.
If life is funny I don't get the joke.

I always read The Bible so I know that Jesus saves.
He must be on a better wage than I.
This rut that I am trapped in is much deeper than the grave
So they won't have to move me when I die.
