October's Breath
October’s Breath
A mysterious month of spooks and fright
Leads up to the scares of Halloween night
While the cool breaths of winter wind gusts blow
Harvest moon gives to us one final show
~~*~~
A farmer’s saving grace, a true delight
Giving them light to work through the long night
Thunderstorms come and then they go away
Leaving rinsed pumpkins on the golden hay
~~*~~
Glowing orange faces are all around town
Some sharp fangs point up while others go down
Readying themselves during the day’s light
Graveyards churn with ghosts and goblins all night
~~*~~
After dark, skeletons and tombstones dance
While beside them ghosts and their friends will prance
While the witches keep straw broomsticks handy
Cutest spooks collect the sweet candy
~~*~~
A year will pass before events repeat
If this scariest night we can defeat
