Just My Opinion
by lancellot
Yes, I’ve lost again, but let’s talk honestly. We all must like these contests; otherwise we’d save our money. I have some issues with this contest and the others I lost.
The site contests are all well and good, except for some annoying factors. The judges are unknown, answer to no one, and never disclose the voting totals of the entries. A look at recent history will also show that the judges tend to favor certain members far and above others.
I don’t mind losing, but it would be nice to know why, who’s deciding, and if they read my entry at all. Can they actually read them all?
But as the saying goes: All wins are final.
That translates into: If we’re caught cheating, too bad. You can kiss our invisible asses.
Also, we all know that certain genres of prose or poem will never win. Political or those containing explicit sexual content should not bother entering at all. That includes site contests with an obvious sexual theme. Yes, check your history, if you enter an entry with high sexual content it will lose, and those written by Nuns, virgins, or Care-bears will win.
As far as the member contests go, I can’t blame the site. Issues in member contests are our own damn fault. In the voting booth, leave the friendships out, read the damn rules, and vote for the best entry, even if it’s not yours.

Writing Prompt Imagine you've entered a site or member sponsored contest/prompt, and the result has just been announced. You didn't win, and you're angry at the result. List your grievances, in PROSE and NOT poetry format. You may abuse the winner, or contest winners in general, as much as you like, but you MUST NOT mention any member's name, or even hint at it by offering clues as to their identity (including country of residence). You may say, 'he', 'she' or 'they', but that's it. No individual contests may be referred to. Minimum 50 words. Maximum 250 words. Please to not promote above 52 cents, with a PROSE certificate. 'Description' MUST include word count, and NOTHING else. No author notes whatsoever. No music, artwork or fancy presentations allowed. Plain text with ONE background colour, and ONE text colour only, presented in straight lines. |
