with a wave of anxiety
kind of wave that surfers desire
but boat captains brace
for the terror

a calamity from the family
early script

uninvited unprompted unfed
drapes itself tightly around
clinging like Saran Wrap
tightening pressure to every last nerve

must get this done
must do that
hurry scurry
let out the cat
(don't have a cat)
then forget about this
instead, worry about that

make a list
check it thrice
what to do first
was it done right

then notice that pain in your gut
reminding you of the endless rut
you dig for yourself
with all that worry
while you scurry
