As I dance
I see
the colors above my head
swirling together in ribbons.
Will the rainbow become my window
into my tomorrow?
Pull me in, colors of my life:
the blues, the reds, the yellows.
Show me I am not without color;
no shades of grey and black for me!
For I lived in that world of black.
I prayed for hope as pink as a rose.
I needed grace as violet as His robe.
I waited for new life as green as new grass.
I thank Him now for my life of color-
and I pull the ribbons around me
as I dance.
