My Daddy Said
By Sandra Stoner Mitchell

"My mummy's gone to live up in the sky,"
Said Cindy softly to her closest friend.
"My daddy said her home is very high,
but Jesus said my kisses I can send.

"My daddy said my mummy couldn't stay;
she went to Heaven when God called her name.
But daddy said she'll hear me when I pray,
and she will always love me just the same.

"My daddy said that God had been so sad
to see my mum cry when she was alone.
My daddy said that Mummy hurt so bad,
and that's why Jesus came to take her home.

"My daddy said that Mummy can still see
me doing all the things I like to do.
He said that God was sad for leaving me
without my mum, and sad for Daddy too.

"My daddy said we'll see my mum again
in Heaven when God says it's time to go.
But, until then down here we must remain,
there's more for me to learn that I don't know.

"My daddy said my mummy would be proud
to see how brave her little girl has been.
I told him that one day when I'm allowed
I'll be like Mummy and look after him.

"My daddy smiled and then began to cry,
I hugged him then and kissed his tears goodbye."
