The shadow beside the open window moves.
Fear tenses tight in my throat. Panic floods me.
He's cloaked in darkness. I hear his breath quicken.
Echoing in the night's stillness, my heart pounds.
His hand squeezing, choking, crushing, nails digging -
The stench overwhelms me, quietness hovers,
darkness steals the night...
