Emma stumbled through thick snow to reach safety, away from the tangled mass of her car resting against the tree it had struck. Baby Melissa was still strapped inside where Emma couldn't reach her. Emma's desperate choice: wait for help, or leave on her own. Melissa's cries tore at her heart as she crept towards the road. She listened for an approaching vehicle, stepped into its path, and then rolled away just in time. The truck stopped and a man leapt out. She pointed towards the wrecked car and her crying child - a mother's gamble had paid off.
