Shakespearean Sonnet contest entry
Like Precious Wine

To learn to craft a sonnet's much like wine. It takes a certain patience most neglect. Each word should be the choicest from the vine, with taste that only skill and time perfect. Fermenting in the mind before it's poured, each syllable must flow with graceful ease. Let every sip be savored and adored while rolling off the tongue in playful tease. But sadly quite addicting is its curse, for other forms then slowly lose their taste. And as your mindset grows in metered verse the Haiku and the Nonet lay to waste. Let not the sonnet's grasp be too severe. It's hard to tame the wino sonneteer. ~ |
