Already Gone
by Spiritual Echo
Broken promises flushed away. Rusting razor, rancid cologne, dried out stick of deodorant, it's all that's left.
Remote control, I bathe, I eat and sometimes sleep, ignoring the remnants of intimacy. In every corner of this house, shadows of our life together gather dust, remain untouched.
So many decades, anniversaries--a calendar of regrets. Now, in twilight years, I'm not enough. No goodbyes, excuses or remorse. You walked away, taking the necessities--leaving me behind. Missing signals, I raged in pain. Accusations, falling like freezing rain, turned to ice. You slid away.
One more time--I begged--let's try. We deserve another chance, not let our investment turn to ash.
'Again and again,' he said, smirking, indifferent, leaving me with scornful words...'It's not worth saving.'
blazing autumn leaves
crimson passion exhausted
yesterday is dead
