The harvest

The pumpkin patch mocked her as Jenny sat surrounded by overdue bills. There was just no money to harvest.
Always poor, but Mom managed to feed the family, and still found extra for the hobos that would knock at the back door hungry.
Suddenly, she heard the gate and watched a group of men came through. They began to harvest.
After the work was done, one of the men brought her to the old maple tree in the front yard and pushed aside the tall grass,revealing a carved hobo symbol for a welcoming house.
"Just returning the favor, M'am"
