The Empty Sails

Beneath the subtle dawn I raise the sails
to catch the vibrant wind my muse creates.
I'll follow any path the course unveils
and welcome every treasure that awaits.

I free the helm to drift the open seas,
to find what precious gems the muse inspires.
I long to feel her touch upon the breeze,
to fuel the every thought my ship requires.

But on caressing waves my vessel sways,
I float amid the stillness of the dawn.
Too often come these woes of windless days
while pondering where inspiration's gone.

I dream of distant shores beneath the mast
as sadly, once again, the anchor's cast.
