A feeling of being lost and alone

Abandoned

by belinda45

"I called for you," the voice rang out.
The silence echoed back my doubt.
"You never came." My own disgrace
Spoke to me in this forsaken place.
How could I know an abandoned child
Would call me out yon traveled miles?
I cried for all the abandonment
The fear, the hurt, disobedience.
"I didn't know," my heart spoke to her,
This lonely, broken, fearful girl.
"I'll never leave again," I cried.
"Please believe I would have tried
To get to you if I had known
You were waiting here all alone."
I picked her up and held her close
Of those I love, she means the most.
I'm devoted, now, to keep her safe,
This little girl who shares my face.

Written upon reflecting about a visual journey to find my inner child.
