Forgotten Memories

by belinda45

Forgotten memories are still in our minds
Reminding us crudely of those horrible times
When counters, bathrooms and fountains alike
Were segregated as we drew racial lines.

Lord, grant us the wisdom and heavenly grace
To use reason and intellect, to look beyond race.
And help us find wisdom each day as we seek
To help one another heal wounds every week.

Let us remember those dreams firmly held,
Judging content of character, we will not fail;
We each give to others the greatest of gifts
Knowing love has the power to heal every rift.
