Hope In a Darkened Universe

A smile
A frown
The tears of a clown

I am lost
And adrift
In a life of memories
Alone and forgotten
Hiding
Inside myself

My being searches for identity
But my mask of humanity
So noble
In life's beginnings
Has faded
Into the sunset
In the dawn of twilight's darkness

In unseen realities
Of unknown consequence
I am fraught
With disease of the mind
And folly to the heart

The pain that I feel
The imbalance of thought
Ravages my consciousness
And I see no more
The flower
Of youthful exuberance

Age has destiny
It ravages what is now
And laughs
At what will be
And I am
A victim
To its journey

Yet
I am a garden of want

Seeds planted
In the blossoms of time
Exist in my head
And the visions of purity
Still abound

It is love that awakens
So rapturous in thought
So timeless in emotion

My flower blooms
Strong with buds
Of tomorrows ecstasies

My children
My children
The meaning of life
Plants my heart
And redeems my soul
And I am blessed
In existence
And I grow
As they grow
My legacy
To life
A smile to tomorrow
And I have hope
