It was a time for seeing
And he was a visionary
His mind evoked memories
Of earlier generations
When people knew not
The wonders
Of freedom
And peaceful congruity

Everything had a price
Everything had a cost
Mankind new war
And gambled on victory

A selfish self
Humanity was

They were cynical days
Days of doubt
Days of mistrust
God was ruler of all
But so many Gods
Of different names
Surrounded our world
The Holiness of tenet
Lifted swords against each other
And killed with vengeance
As an act of righteousness

They were costly wars
Not only in time
Not only in money
But in personal sacrifices for God's
Reward of a better Kingdom
In a life
After life

The mutilations of the body
The demagoguery of the soul
Brought canonization
To those who committed
Defileable acts
Against Un God like Gods

But he was a visionary
Unlike his brethren
He saw justice
And compromise
When others
Saw war

He saw beyond sight
Into a future
Of continuity
Where all men
Sustained themselves
With the dignity
Of their own beliefs
And he sent the message
Of justice towards all

Life was short
The bounty tentative
He preached of destiny
Beyond reward
For it was man's soul
That is the ultimate reward
Of loving thy neighbor
As you would love thy self

He knew it would take time
And spirit
And acts of goodness
To open the pages
Of Biblical integrity
Of newness and cohesion
Among living souls

He saw beyond sight
And he gathered nation
Upon nation
And talked
And prayed
And conjoined
Opportunity

Forces of evil
And forces of right
He brought forth
A new spirit
Of optimism towards all

Children read
Parents taught
Teachers lead
And humanity brought
Science and Goodness together
As one

And healing began
And fulfillment flourished
And war was born no more
Peace grew
And man's harvest was sated
Flowers bloomed
And medicine healed
Body and soul

He brought enrichment
He brought grace
He was our leader
For generations
Of believers
And we honor his soul
Like Lincoln before him
"All Men Are Created Equal"
He was one
With all

We cherish his memory
May he be blessed in Heaven
As he was on Earth
So be it
