A nostalgic acrostic poem
Lost In The Fifties Tonight
by Suzie Q
Let's take a little trip down a memory lover's lane
Occupy a seat on this bound-for-glory train Sam Cooke is the conductor, Elvis Presley is the guide Take a tip from me, you don't wanna miss this ride Included in your fare is everything to make you smile No tears will be provided, they cost extra every mile Time to close your eyes awhile and let your mind rewind Heaven knows it won't be hard to leave your blues behind Exit now, we have arrived, worries will have to wait Follow me, there's much to see, hurry or you'll be late I bet your belly's growlin' the A&W's mighty keen Friday the joint is jumpin', teenyboppers' favorite scene T-Birds with tops pulled down fill up the parking lot I think we'd better go inside, cause boy it sure is hot Each booth has a jukebox, hope your pocket has a jingle Slip a coin into the slot and hear your favorite single Twistin' The Night Away's got everyone on their feet Only a fool would sit it out, can't they hear the beat Nehi's, burgers and fries, time to take a seat I can't believe time has flown, we've only been here a minute Guys and gals, time to go, find the car and let's get in it Hop aboard, the whistle's blowin', don't have time to cry Take a look, there's Lucy and Ethel waving us goodbye |

I always wished I'd grown up in the fifties. Hope this will bring back fond memories for those of you who did. Thank you Sinbackkk for the great photo! I was born in 61' so I do remember car hops :)
