What's Gluten-Free?
by jmdg1954
Using softball size stones, Lucas and I built a circular fire pit, then piled dry tree branches and leaves in the center.
Ray, the oldest at almost twelve, pumped out his chest and said, "watch me!"
Fifteen minutes later with sore hands from failing to light the fire via a spark created by two stones, Ray used kitchen matches.
We whittled sticks, shoved chunks of bacon pork fat on them and held it over the open fire. Once the outside was charred to a crisp, we stuffed it between slices of Wonder Bread.
No-one mentioned organic, local produce or gluten-free back then ... but forty-five years later, I've never had a better sandwich.
