Contest entry for Lonely Poem-freestyle
Alone
by justjo66
I woke this morning to a
distant train whistle The silence of my home deafening I reached over to pat your hand as I have done so many times Cold empty sheets For a moment I forgot My sleepy mind could not grasp Just one day since your passing Silence so complete Your every breath had been so loud Then it stopped forever My breath stopped, too Is this what it feels like to be alone?
